Pupu Springs, officially known as Te Waikoropupu Springs (exactly!), are the clearest freshwater springs in the WORLD! The only place where there is known to be water of greater clarity is under an ice shelf in Antartica. No really! They are also the largest springs in Australasia. Very impressive and pretty surreal. The water resembled a heat wave more than water as it piled out of the vents in the river bed as it was almost invisible and we could clearly see to the bottom. BEEEAUUUUTIFUL! (Now comes the hard part - looking for the picture that is going to do it justice!)

Matt even spotted a delicious looking trout which he was convinced he would be able to catch by hand as it was SOOOOOO temptingly close and oblivious to our presence..

Hey Dipi
Enjoyed reading the blog to see what you've been up to. Where are the entries for the previous 6-8 years though? Looks like you're having fun and I'm mighty envious :-) And hello, Matt. Nice to kind of meet you in a weird virtual way.
I guess Cape Town may not be on your itinerary but there's a spare room if you need one should you come to the dark continent!
