Start and Stop

Well as we are stuck in an internet Cafe due to our van needing some work doing to it (and the weather is terrible, rain rain rain) we thought we would just update the blog a little with some snaps and what we have been up to since we left Dan and Jessie's place.......

The way this trip works is that we are basically travelling north from Aukland to the top of NZ and the back down to the south island to experience everything we can that each island has to offer. With regards to sleeping we just find a nice spot where we dont think we will be moved on from, or a cheap camp site and pitch up there and sort ourselves out for the night, with beach spots being obvious favourites (we can catch fish for dinner then, something we are getting good at!).

We are currently on the east coast at a place called Kerikeri which is in the bay of islands and have travelled up the east coast from Aukland to get here. (google the bay of islands NZ)

Along the way there are soooo many places to stop and admire the view with a different picturesque bay being around almost every bend and corner (its tough to do them justice with words and photos really, and thats not my excuse for bad photos ok!!).

There are a few sleepy townships thrown in for good measure, but in between these you can virtually be the only car on the road (and some of the roads are just rough gravel tracks). The people are in general really friendly and the whole place has a very chilled feel to it. We have managed to get some diving in. Well, i snorkelled and Dipi dived.(Poor Knights Dive Site which is one of the top 10 dive sites in the world!). We have been treated so far to some simply amazing views, scenery and peaceful surroundings with the odd little drama here and there........ and we have only really just started......... HOPE THE SUN COMES OUT SOON!!!

(ooops second time lucky I hope!)

Hi guys

Great to hear some more news :-)

The weather's improving here - hope it does the same there soon!

It's Glasto ticket w/e so we've got to be up 9am on Sunday to join the mad scramble....not the best morning for an early start seeing as we're out at a party tonight - may be easier to just stay up, get the tix, & then worry about sleeping afterwards! ;-)

Anyway keep the news coming & take care you crazy kids :-)

Hello!

The vehical is a vehical and they are a pain, but its not been too bad and as long as it gets us round in one peice then we should be ok.

We have been eating plenty of fish lately as the fishing has been good, caught a 10 pound snapper (we got the original weight wrong) a couple of days ago and we will be eating the rest of that later! Lovely.

We are missing everyone too......

Hey vick, how did the tickets go??

We got lucky again with Glasto tix - we had ours at 9.15am so then we started getting tix for everyone else - in the end we got about 38 tickets, in separate blocks of 2,3 or 4. By 10.30am I was sick of death of putting all the details in over and over again! Not complaining really though - just glad we're all going! Apparently there was no timeout on the order page, so if you got in once it would keep letting you back in again - result for us, but not so good for other people...
Also going to the Big Chill - got our tix for that just last week. Most of the usual suspects are going again, although Tris & Liz can't make it this year as they are away on hols at the same time.

The weather's been quite good here lately which is nice - had a freak April w/e the one before last with temperatures of 26 degrees on the Sunday - you wouldn't think it was April!

Anyway that's enough waffle for now - look forward to hearing the next update soon...

:-)
